Stash x Fabrick Medicom Toy Life Entertainment Collection

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 Ducko 0 comments

Low key for a good portion of the year, Stash makes a return alongside Medicom’s lifestyle division, Medicom Toy Life Entertainment for a set of items within their Fabrick Series. Taking on a biking theme, we see the graffiti artist’s influence amongst a lineup that includes accessories and lifestyle product. Look for these to release sometime in the latter part of 2009.

Giant steps it up for 2010 with a sweet track bike lineup

Ducko 0 comments
For those that even take a small interest in Giant you know that they aren't exactly a diverse name in the fixed gear world, putting out only a few Bowery models and changing them only once every few years. Well 2010 looks like it's gonna be a good year for hipsters looking for an aluminum alternative. Most of the updates are cosmetic, but they do have two entirely new models. Here's the lineup:

First up is the updated Omnium. This is less of an urban fixie and more of a true track bike through and through. It comes out of the gate with a 48t/15t gearing so if you're gonna get into it you better be ready to pedal hard.

This has been my favorite for some time now. The '72 is pretty retro looking. For this year they basically reversed the color scheme, toned down some of the components, and put it at a price point that's nearly half of what it was previously.

The updated '84 model is virtually identical to the previous ones, except for one detail. It's black now instead of white. It still sits at over a grand for its price point so it's definitely an investment. The best feature about this model has always been the huge pursuit bars on it. As far as fixed gears go there's really not a much more stretched out model available, and it definitely makes for a completely different ride.

The Mashup is not a new model by any means, but at least this year they didn't give it the matte gray ugly mountain bike look. Instead I guess they decided to go with a pink and green surfboard-airbrushed look. Not really any visible upgrades to it, but at least they made it look more interesting.

Here is our first indication that Giant has paid attention to urban cycling. This is the all new Bowery FMX. It comes stock with no brakes, a top tube pad and pre-docked riser bars. The only visible downside is the quality of the crankset, which is about the quality of the bottom line Dawes bikes, so even though this bike is not going to be extremely expensive, I really wouldn't get one without taking it to a local shop and getting a new bottom bracket and crankset. Other than that I think they're really on the right track with this bike.

Finally we come to the second of two new models for Giant: The Chixie. As the name would imply this is a more feminine inspired fixed gear. Personally I think this bike is awesome, and with a little tweaking could be cool for either gender. (minus the stars on the bottom of the down tube near the bottom bracket). But not for trannies.

Yesterday's Greenway ride had me checking out the Music City Moves web site, and i came across this map. Granted, most of us don't give a f*ck about a bike lane, but it thought it would still be a good post.

Benny Gold x Velocity Rim

With the Interbike tradeshow happening this week here is the first look at a two tone rim that Benny Gold worked on with Velocity. The collaborative rim are getting debuted at the tradeshow this week.He kept the rims classy but still unique to what is already available. They all come with a gold colored aluminum card and custom sticker. The black section of the card is chemically etched into the metal. Each card has the set number stamped directly into the metal

this is a video I made for my 4 demential design class at Watkins. I did it all with a cannon digital camera. There are no tricks being done in this video. just photography while riding bike... which can be tricky in itself.

Just watch it or don't. whatever.

Here a few pics from a crazy weekend. I regretfully say that I missed the friday night party and the early saturday ride. But the saturday evening activities were still funner than shit. Me being one who has never ridden on or with a tall bike. I'll chalk it up as a learning experience, and what I learned is I want to do it more often.

There were at least 50 people from about 4 different clubs that I know of. There were the hosts the Rat Patrol. Then there was us Skumlife guys, and the marsupial front was there. I'm drawing blanks on the other names, and these are the only ones I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Enough being said. I will be posting videos and pics of future events and happenings for your viewing pleasure. I promise, I'll keep it real as I can.

Most of you should know by now the PK Ripper Fixed Gear Bike by SE Racing, that is the result of numerous collaborations of SE Racing and DC Shoes. Now The Standard hotels also get into the mix and received their very own PK Ripper bikes. Of the 1000 pieces of the PK Ripper, The Standard has customized 20 pieces to give it the New York look. 15 bikes will be at The Standard New York for the guests to use in the city and 5 are being sold through their online store, each priced at 1250 USD.
