Scaredy Cat Results + My New Wheel Day

Monday, November 02, 2009 Anonymous 0 comments

The Scaredy Cat went great! We had an amazing turnout. Special thanks to Halcyon for getting all the sponsors and prizes and every one else for getting the race set up (2W1C for hosting, Keith for designing the poster, Mark for getting the spoke cards printed and laminated, and of course Skumlife and Cupcranks for coming out to race!).

The results are as follows:
Guys -
1. Richard
2. Sam
3. Dave

Girls -
1. Devan
2. Skye
3. Candice

On another note, I also just had a new wheel day (well, I've technically had the wheel for two months, but I finally paid it off and put it on).

Fast az Fuck Ride!

Poster designed by Keith

THIS IS NOT A CASUAL RIDE! We will be keeping a fast pace for approximately 40 miles. This is a no-wait, every man for themselves ride (i.e. if you fall behind, no one is going to stop and wait up for you, you will be on your own). So if you come, be sure to bring your own tools, tubes, and a pump or CO2 cartridge because if you get a flat, there may not be any one there to help you out. Make sure to bring lots of water and be ready to push yourself! The Route is as follows:

Starting at Centennial Park
Riding out at 1:30pm
Heading North on 28th past TSU to Ted Rhodes Park
Enter the Metrocenter Greenway
Take the Greenway Downtown to the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge
Over the bridge to East Nashville to Shelby Park
Take the Shelby Bottoms Greenway to Two Rivers Park via Cumberland Ped. Bridge
Follow the Greenway to the Percy Priest Dam
Head back the same way
End at the Shelby Street Ped. Bridge
Participants receive Skumlife gold chain status!

Where the Wild Things Ride

Yesterday's Where the Wild Things Ride was a definite success! We all met up at Halcyon, rode downtown to the Shelby Street Bridge, and crossed the river over to the Greenway. After a stop for some water at the Nature Center we rode through the Greenway to Opry Mills, ate some delicious lunch, and then watched Where the Wild Things Are on IMAX. We had a great turnout and the ride ended up being a lot more fun than I had even anticipated. More pictures here on Keef's Flickr.

This past Sunday, Skumlife threw a Scavenger Hunt/BBQ at the local bike shop, Halcyon. Good turn out, good food, good times. Thanks to Alex Prout for putting the day together, and congrats to Ryan O'Rear for winning the hunt. Enjoy the pics...

Art Crawl Ride

Art Crawl Ride Set, originally uploaded by president raygun.

Every first Saturday of the month there is an Art Crawl at the Arcade downtown in Nashville, and (you guessed it) we ride. It's happening this Saturday. Meet the Skumlife crew at the Villager Tavern in Hillsboro Village for a warm up session (lol) and around 8pm we hit the streets. The ride doesn't stop after the Art Crawl either. We will hit up the East side (Dino's) for some drinking and foods, then to CvK@12th&Porter to party it up. If you ride, you have got to come check this one out. One of my favorite rides. See you there

this is a video I made for my 4 demential design class at Watkins. I did it all with a cannon digital camera. There are no tricks being done in this video. just photography while riding bike... which can be tricky in itself.

Just watch it or don't. whatever.

Here a few pics from a crazy weekend. I regretfully say that I missed the friday night party and the early saturday ride. But the saturday evening activities were still funner than shit. Me being one who has never ridden on or with a tall bike. I'll chalk it up as a learning experience, and what I learned is I want to do it more often.

There were at least 50 people from about 4 different clubs that I know of. There were the hosts the Rat Patrol. Then there was us Skumlife guys, and the marsupial front was there. I'm drawing blanks on the other names, and these are the only ones I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Enough being said. I will be posting videos and pics of future events and happenings for your viewing pleasure. I promise, I'll keep it real as I can.
